- Decide one primary action (WhatsApp, call or form) before you design anything, and repeat that one CTA through the page.
- Follow a proven order: headline and CTA, problem, solution, proof, offer and price, FAQ, final CTA.
- Your headline should say what you offer, for whom, and the outcome, in plain words a customer would use.
- Specific proof (real numbers, named testimonials, photos of real work) and visible prices build trust faster than design polish.
- Most Indian visitors arrive on mobile data. Compress images, keep the page light, and make the WhatsApp button big and easy to tap.
- Measure it: track WhatsApp clicks and form submissions, then improve the headline and offer first.
Plenty of small business landing pages look professional and still produce almost no enquiries. The gap between “looks nice” and “brings in customers” is usually structure and clarity, not visual polish. A landing page is not a digital brochure. It is a focused argument for one specific action, and every section should move the visitor closer to taking it.
This guide walks through the structure that works, how to write each section, the trust signals that matter most for Indian customers, and the technical basics (speed, mobile, tracking) that decide whether your page actually gets seen.
Landing page vs website
A website has several pages and many jobs: explaining your company, listing services, publishing articles, sharing contact details.
A landing page is one page with one audience and one goal. It is ideal when:
- you are running Google or Meta ads to one service or offer,
- you are launching a new product, course or service,
- you are a consultant, freelancer or small business that needs a credible online presence quickly.
Many businesses start with a strong landing page and grow it into a multi-page website later.
Step 1: Choose one goal
Before any design work, decide the single action you want visitors to take:
- Start a WhatsApp chat (often the best choice in India)
- Submit a short enquiry form
- Call you
- Book a slot (for consultations, salons, clinics, classes)
A page that pushes WhatsApp, a form, a call, an Instagram follow and a newsletter with equal weight usually gets none of them. Pick one primary call to action (CTA), repeat it, and keep anything else visibly secondary.
Step 2: Use a structure that guides the visitor
| # | Section | Job it does |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Hero: headline, subheadline, CTA | Tells visitors in seconds what you offer and what to do |
| 2 | The problem | Shows you understand their situation |
| 3 | The solution / what you offer | Explains how you solve it, in plain words |
| 4 | How it works | Removes uncertainty with 3-4 simple steps |
| 5 | Proof | Testimonials, results, photos of real work, client names |
| 6 | Offer and pricing | What is included and what it costs |
| 7 | FAQ | Answers the objections that stop people enquiring |
| 8 | Final CTA | Repeats the main action with reassurance |
You do not need every section on every page, but this order works because it mirrors the questions a visitor asks: What is this? Is it for me? Can I trust you? What does it cost? What happens next?
Step 3: Write a headline that does the heavy lifting
Your headline is the most important text on the page. A good one says what you offer, for whom, and the outcome.
| Weak | Strong |
|---|---|
| Welcome to Sharma Associates | GST Registration & Monthly Filing for Small Businesses in Jaipur, from ₹999/month |
| Your Dream Body Awaits | Online Weight-Loss Coaching for Working Women: Diet + Home Workouts, No Gym Needed |
| Quality Interiors | Modular Kitchens in Pune, Designed and Installed in 30 Days. Free Site Visit |
Underneath, add a one- or two-line subheadline with the key detail or differentiator, then your CTA button.
Tips:
- Use the words your customers use, not industry jargon.
- Put your city or area in the headline if you serve locally.
- Make the CTA button specific: “Chat on WhatsApp”, “Get a free quote”, “Book a free site visit”. Avoid a bare “Submit”.
Step 4: Show proof
Trust is the main reason visitors hesitate to contact an unknown business. The most persuasive proof is specific and real:
- Testimonials with names, roles or locations, and a concrete result. “First serious enquiry within 2 weeks” beats “Great service!”
- Photos of real work: before/after images, project photos, screenshots, product shots. Avoid generic stock images where possible.
- Numbers you can stand behind: clients served, years in business, projects completed.
- Recognisable names: clients, certifications, associations, media mentions.
- Google reviews: link to your Google Business Profile.
Step 5: Be clear about the offer and price
Ambiguity kills enquiries. Spell out:
- what is included (and, briefly, what is not),
- the price or a “starting from” price,
- delivery time or timeline,
- any guarantee, revision policy or refund terms.
“Contact us for pricing” often reads as “expensive” or “evasive”. Even a starting price helps the right customers feel safe reaching out.
Step 6: Answer objections in an FAQ
Collect the questions people ask you on calls and WhatsApp, and answer them on the page: cost, timeline, what you need from them, payment terms, location, what happens after they contact you. Each answered question is one less reason to leave.
Step 7: Make it fast
A slow page loses visitors before they see your offer, especially on mobile data.
- Compress images (WebP format, sized to how big they appear on screen). A single uncompressed photo can be several megabytes.
- Avoid heavy extras: auto-playing video backgrounds, large sliders and many third-party widgets.
- Use a fast, simple setup. A clean static page is usually faster than a page builder loaded with plugins.
- Test it with Google PageSpeed Insights and on a real phone using mobile data, not office Wi-Fi.
Step 8: Design for mobile first
Most landing page visitors in India arrive on a phone. Design for a thumb, not a mouse:
- Large, easy-to-tap buttons with enough spacing
- A sticky WhatsApp or call button at the bottom of the screen
- WhatsApp links (wa.me/91XXXXXXXXXX) with a pre-filled message so the visitor only has to press send
- Short forms: name, phone and one question are often enough
- Readable text without zooming (at least 16 px for body text)
Step 9: Add basic SEO
If you want the page to be found on Google, not just used for ads:
- A unique page title with your service and location
- A meta description that reads like an ad
- One H1 heading containing your main keyword
- Descriptive text (not just images) that explains your service
- Alt text on images
- A Google Business Profile linked to the page
Step 10: Measure and improve
Install Google Analytics 4 (and a heatmap tool such as Microsoft Clarity, which is free) and track:
- WhatsApp button clicks
- Form submissions
- Phone clicks
Then improve the things with the biggest impact first: the headline, the offer and the proof. Change one thing at a time so you can see what worked.
Common landing page mistakes
- No clear CTA above the fold
- A vague headline (“Welcome to our website”)
- Too many choices and links to other sites
- Stock photos instead of real work
- Hidden pricing
- Slow loading and huge images
- A form that asks for ten details
- No phone number, address or business name, which makes the page look untrustworthy
Pre-launch checklist
- One clear goal and CTA, repeated
- Headline states offer + audience + outcome
- Real proof and named testimonials
- Price or starting price shown
- FAQ answers top objections
- Loads fast on mobile data; images compressed
- WhatsApp link opens with a pre-filled message
- Analytics and click tracking installed
- Page title, meta description and H1 set
